Mopa is a beautiful village situated in Goa's north most taluka, Pernem that lies to the east of Tamboxem. Here one can see a number of crops grown such as groundnut, rice grows, finger millets. The place also has quite a number of hill-hidden springs.
The people of Mopa observe the Zatra of the Shri Mauli temple in December. Also during the Hindu festival of Gudi Padva the married girls of Mopa have to bring a coconut and a cock to the paternal house. However a sari is sent back for the festival Tarangam.
There are discussions going on about setting up an international airport in the Mopa village at the Mopa Plateau. If so the new airport might be known as the Mopa International Airport and will be the second international airport in Goa, the first one being the Dabolim airport.
