The Shri Navdurga Sausthan temple in Goa is situated at Borim which is about 34 kms. from Panaji and 12 kms. from Margao. The temple is among the famous religious places in Goa and houses an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Shiva known as Goddess Navdurga.
It is known that a group of Brahmins had earlier brought the Goddess Navdurga deity from a place known as Karad in Maharashtra to Benaulim in the South Goa district in the Salcete taluka. Subsequently it was moved to its present site at Borim. The Borim Zatra dedicated to Goddess Navdurga is celebrated in the month of November in Borim at Ponda.
