Oxel is a small pleasant village situated in the Bardez taluka in north Goa. It is a place that is bordered with hills of cashew trees and where one can also see a lot of Goan cultural lifestyle. The people are very outgoing and some of the main occupations are fishing, agriculture and cashew distillation.
There is a church in the village of Oxel known as the Our Lady of Sea church that was built in 1899. The people of Oxel celebrate many Christian festivals such as the Sao Joao feast that is celebrated on 24th June, then on 29th June the Sangodd and also the church feast.
The Hindus in the village of Oxel also celebrate their various festivals such as in December in the Xetrapal temple they celebrate the zatra along with the dancers of the temple, they also celebrate Shigmo and in December, February, May and August they also celebrate the Kalika Temple Zatra.
