Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Institute, Margao, Goa was established in the year 1962 for extending techno-managerial and economic consultancy services for the development of small scale industries. The geographical jurisdiction of this Institute embraces two districts of the State viz. North Goa district consisting of the talukas of Pernem, Bardez, Bicholim, Sattari, Tiswadi and Ponda and South Goa District consisting of the talukas of Salcete, Mormugao, Quepem, Sanguem and Cancona. SISI was the first Industrial Institution in Goa immediately after its liberation from the Portuguese regime.

MSME-DI., Margao is a part of national network under the aegis of Small Industries Development Organisation which is an apex body administered by the Ministry of MSME. Development Commissioner (MSME) New Delhi is the administrative head of MSME-DI network.

The functional divisions of MSME-DI, Goa are broadly classified into engineering, non-engineering, training and economic investigation. Engineering division consist of mechanical, metallurgical, electrical and electronics disciplines. on engineering division consists of chemical, food, plastic, rubber, ceramics, leather and textiles.
